May '22 Heretics Meet: Photo Gallery

It was the day after a huge storm, the afternoon following a morning of grey skies and rain. To say we were thankful for the sun shining was an understatement.

Whilst the damp start no doubt kept a few fair-weather drivers away, those who did make the effort were rewarded with another great event with wonderful cars and as usual a load of lovely people. Here's how it went down at May's Heretics meet.

Free for all!

May's event saw a return back to the traditional 'no ticket required' entrance, and with that came some trepidation as to exactly how many cars might turn up. We needn't have worried, cars and vans were cruising in at a leisurely pace from about five o'clock and kept coming until after seven. With the nights getting lighter every day June's meet is expected to pull a bumper crowd - make sure you are there.

Porsche 356 pair

What a treat to have two awesome 356's arrive within minutes of each other. Although they share the same silhouette they couldn't have been much more different if they tried. Many of you will have seen Alex's grey car at our events before, but Graham's blue 356 hotrod was a new one on us and sported a 2.2 Flat 6 out the back, mounted to a 911 rear suspension set up. It certainly sounded fruity, and clearly, the roll cage is for more than just looks!

A further mention to John with the 964 Targa, and James and Martha who came down in their silver 987 Boxster, keeping Barney's 997 and Andy's 944 company in the 'Porshe corner'.

Waiting for a bus?

We had a great turnout from busses of all ages, big and small. Great to catch up with previous Heritage employee Andy H and his bright yellow Crafter, likewise organisers of the UK Cruise to Ninove, Gez and Ollie in their Splitscreen pairing.

Elsewhere in the yard, there was an awesome lifted Type 25 Syncro and a handful of front-engine Transporters too.

Drink up!

Fresh from his coffee serving gig at the 9Werks event last weekend, Chris was back with the Crew Cab Coffee truck and enjoying a chinwag and a cuppa with fellow enthusiasts in the corner of the yard. He's a petrol head with both VWs and Porsche in his stable, so we've got the right guy on the job... His coffee's alright too ;)

Feeding Time !

Edd and Lee from B Road Hunting Club were back on cooking duty for us with burgers and fries on the menu. They were going down a storm, with lots of compliments, so hat's off to the chef!

Aircooled Arrangement

We try and keep some kind of logic as to where vehicles are parked, in keeping with the surroundings but also to make for a decent photograph. Our aircooled selection this month was particularly varied with 2 Baja Bugs, a pair of VW Trekkers, and 4 Karmann Ghias in the mix. Of course, Beetles were ever-present and we had some fine examples on display too.

Thank you for the music

Just quickly interrupting our aircooled recap with a word of thanks to Kenny, who was spinning the tunes for us. We're pleased to say he'll be back behind the decks for us again later in the year.

Watercooled Classics

There was another broad spectrum of watercooled VWs in the yard at May's meet, and plenty of first generation car:  Mk1 Passat, Mk! Golf, Mk1 Golf, Mk1 Jetta, Mk1 Golf Cabriolet

Some modern stuff...

To wrap it all up, here's some of the newer VAG metal that kindly came along to see us, including another ex-team member, Benjamin Parsons with his bonkers fast Audi R8!

Fingers crossed for another cracker next month. Put Thursday 16th June in your diary, and we'll see you at about 6 pm. In the meantime, stay tuned for this month's video and if you've missed last month, you can catch it here
