Shopping for Rear Disc Brakes for Mk1 Golf?
None of the Mk1 Golf models, not even the GTI came with rear disc brakes from the factory, but that’s not to say you can’t upgrade to discs on the rear if you wanted to.
It used to be that owners would fit the Mk2 Golf GTI rear calipers, but these days the preferred upgrade is to use Mk4 Golf rear calipers as they are less prone to seizing. This does mean fitting custom handbrake cables, as the typical Scirocco 16v version won’t be long enough.
