Supporting the #GreatBritishCampout

Heritage Parts Centre is proud to be supporting the Great British Campout's Virtual Festival this UK Bank Holiday weekend, 8th – 10th May 2020.

Live your best lockdown life

The brainchild of Ian Alcorn from Nottinghamshire, he initially set out to raise £100, encouraging fans of campervans and canvas to donate £2 per pitch for the pleasure of sleeping in their gardens or driveways. The #GreatBritishCampout raises money for NHS staff and has now gained support from a number of camping industry big players.  Whether it's in a van on the drive, a tent in the garden or a tepee in the living room, you know you want to! The current total sits at over £162,000 which is simply phenomenal, and with lockdown continuing for now and enthusiasts gagging for a getaway fix, it will only increase!

You decide how far to go...

You could creep out to the camper at bedtime, curl up and call it a night, alternatively pitch up on Friday morning, cook some breakfast, maybe play some classic camping games and live the whole weekend as if you were actually on holiday. There are some benefits to this... No need for shower roulette, or the inevitable long cold walk to the toilet block in the small hours. However you take part, you'll be making a difference and hopefully having some fun too!

The Virtual Festival

This Bank Holiday Weekend the Great British Campout offers happy campers even more, with the launch of a virtual festival. There will be live music and a whole host of family and children's activities to take our minds of concerns over COVID-19.

Where are the sleeping bags?!

It all sounds like fun to us and we know our team can't wait to pitch up and immerse themselves in this do-gooding distraction. Now, where did we leave the sleeping bags?! Not got a tent? Maybe you could build your own shelter from a tarpaulin or just sleep out under the stars!

Support the #GreatBritishCampout

Join in the online fun by tagging your social media posts with #GreatBritishCampout and add #driveheritage to make your camping shenanigans appear in our stream too - We'd love to get enough photos to produce a 'show report' afterwards. To donate to this amazing cause head over on their Just Giving page. All funds raised will go to NHS Charities Together (Charity Registration No. 1186569) who are supporting NHS staff and volunteers caring for Covid-19 patients. Happy Camping!
