Fitting Info

Engine timing should be set after installation. Use a stroboscopic timing light. Timing should be set initially at 30-32° BTDC at 3,500+ RPM, vacuum hose disconnected and plugged. Maximum advance, at 3,500+ RPM, vacuum hose connected, with no load on engine (car sitting still), light throttle, should not exceed 42-44° BTDC.

Recommended use of a Bosch Blue or other hi-energy Epoxy coil (3.4 ohms primary/12k ohms secondary) with built-in resistor. An external ballast resistor may be used between power source and distributor if your coil does not feature a built-in resistor.

Product Questions

Hi, I want the electronic distributor with the vacuum advance and retard unit for my 1979 T2 bay,
do I need a different coil for this electronic distributor, if so, which one do I need, also, if I do need one, do you have them and also do you do an alternative to bosch.
Many thanx Paul.

Is this unit suitable for a 2L type 4 engine which I have in my 1977 baywindow?
Question by: Mr Heath Hayes on 26 Apr 2021, 17:02
Sorry, it won't suit a 2000cc due to the different advance curves. We don't list a version for the 2000cc I'm afraid.

fitting a pair of Weber 34ICT carbs, so much different advice out there about the vacuum tube, some say attach to left had carb, some say you need to have it attached to both, some say you only need to attach to both on set up using dual twin chokes and not for baby ones like the 34ICT, what is your advice on using this dizzy with twin 34's. thank you.
Question by: Richard Earle on 9 Dec 2020, 19:21
I don't think there is a right or wrong way to be honest as long as it is receiving a good vacuum. I believe people run them to the left as its nearer the dizzy. We would recommend using both carbs, via a T piece.
