Converting from 6v to 12v in VW Split Screen

Volkswagen Split Screen Type 2 Ignition Parts
You will find a comprehensive range of original ignition components listed on our website, including coils, Type 2 Split HT leads, distributors, points, rotor arms, condensers, and distributor caps. Many of these will cross over and be the same as VW Beetle, Karmann Ghia and Bay.
We can also help you upgrade your VW T2 Split ignition system with options like Bosch 009 distributors and assist should you wish to fit an electronic ignition system, to get away from the antiquated points and condenser, that can prove to be unreliable.
VW Type 2 Split Gauges
The loveable Volkswagen Type 2 Splitscreen offers very little in the way of information to the driver beyond displaying its speed and indicating when the lights are on!
For many models, there wasn’t even a Split Bus fuel gauge fitted, and certainly no tacho to monitor engine revs; and the idea of an oil pressure or temperature gauge was something Volkswagen clearly thought the owners could do without.
Fortunately, many, if not all of these items can be retrospectively fitted, thanks for manufacturers such as VDO, Auto Meter and Smiths. We stock a great range of these gauges, and mounting solutions which are in keeping with interior style of the vehicle.

T2 Split Bullet Indicators were introduced for US Spec models in 1955, however the Split screen semaphore indicators weren’t phased out in Europe until 1960. It is possible to ‘upgrade’ and fit indicators to an early vehicle, although with originality so desperately sought after, owners may choose to fit something subtle and hidden away below the bumper line, rather than drill new holes in their classic vehicle bodywork.
