Valve Guide 1200-1600cc 8mm 3rd Oversize - All Questions

Valve Guide 1200-1600cc 8mm 3rd Oversize
SKU
113-101-421/A
Hi, Please excuse my ignorance but what is meant by 1/3 oversize?, also will this item fit type 4, 1800cc? The existing guides appear to have a crimp (peening) groove in them and the aluminium is peened into it.

Afternoon Dave,
Sorry no these are meant for a 1600 Typ1 head.
Oversize refers to the outer diameter of the guide, 3rd oversize on a Typ1 motor is 12.26mm.
But for your motor unless the guide is loose in the head then go for a stock sized one.
Part numbers - 021-101-403/A & 021-101-417/A.
Don't worry about the crimp, the proper way to remove guides is to first drill the guide with a coring drill approx 1mm smaller than the o/d of the guide, go down approx 3/4 of the length of the guide from the chamber side then knock them out towards the spring side of the guide. Be careful here and centre the drill bit in a prill press, not a hand held drill, you don't want to break through the guide and start drilling the head.
