I have a 78 bay. Can this be fitted without having to drop the engine out??

Yes it is possible to do. But it's much easier with the engine out, or at least dropped down but still under the van.
But a 78 bay should have originally had an alternator.

Gi, my engine is fitted with a 32/36 Weber. Will I need a new fuel pump rod please.

No you keep the push rod with your current pump
it dont matter that you have an option for dynamo or alternator its down to matching the rod with the type of pump
