When using this external oil cooler as part of a full flow system on a 1973 Beetle 1303 is a thermostat required to prevent over cooling? I see in some of the external coolers the description explicitly states, "A thermostatic switch must be used with a relay to control the cooling fan" but its not stated for this kit.

No Thermostat is needed, the thermostatic switch is for the ones with fans on, and turns it on and off at a certain temperature controlled by a bimetal disk
