I believe that apart being the wrong colour, the gauge 211-957-063 wont physically fit into the later speedo- it also has a different regulator.

I know its not the same as the one i have on my 1975 T2 but can i use this to replace the faulty one i have? I don't seem to be able to find a replacement fuel gauge for my 1975 Bay

It wouldn't be interchangeable for use on your 1975 I'm afraid. I think it would be a case of finding a good used item.
