Heretics August 2024: Photo Gallery
It was the opposite of a beautiful summers day in Shoreham-by-Sea. We had wind, rain and temperatures making us reach for jumpers and jackets for additional comfort.
Even so, we had nearly fifty awesome cars and campers come down to enjoy the evening.
Small but well formed
Sometimes these smaller meets have hidden silver linings, and one of those is the chance to chat for longer with members of our community. I had a good chat with a couple of regulars Colin and Jake, which you will see on the upcoming video… please excuse the husky voice!
New Faces
The other big positive from the evening was more new faces and vehicles for us to check out… It’s one thing having a smaller event with the same cars every month – but we try our hardest to encourage variety, advertising the event in different places and ways to encourage this diversity, month in month out… and it seems to work!
It was a great turnout from our local Porsche owners, this red 924 on 3 spokes had real retro charm, and we were joined by a first-timer Cayman GT4, 996 C4s and Stu Betty in his 997 Targa.
The retro charm was continued by a very cool white Mk2 Scirocco and a modern Caddy van with a throwback Apple race livery and Rotiform alloys.
Food and Drinks
A big thanks to our caterers for the evening: Maurizio from +39 Pizza on the Road, Chris from Crew Cab Coffee and Kate from Bus and Bug Vintage Weddings for bringing her new ice cream van along… It was a quiet night for all of them, but they continued to serve their wares with a smile.
Music Maestro
It was a debut solo outing for Simon Mole, who typically accompanies his Dad, Brian Mole for our Heretics events. He did a sterling job for us keeping spirits high with his choice of tunes, and we look forward to welcoming him, and his Dad back again in 2025. Listen to the full set here.
Tell us what you think!
Have we just been unlucky the past few months with smaller attendance numbers (traffic accidents, football, summer holidays and poor weather being pretty valid reasons in our book) or are we missing something big that’s keeping you and your car at home?
Don’t like the food, can’t do Thursdays, or not seeing enough of your favourite model?
Give us the lowdown, and we’ll try to improve things for 2025.
We look forward to welcoming you back again on Thursday 5th September (5.30-9 pm) for the final Heretics event of the year. We'd also like to invite you to a collaborative event we are running with our neighbours at Huets, which will be an 'In Car Entertainment' evening on Thursday 12th September 6.30-9 pm - find out more on Facebook.
