VW T4 Tie Rod or Track Rod? 

These are basically the same thing. The tie rod for T4 connects at one end to the steering rack, and at the other end to the steering knuckle, where the wheel is mounted. They are used to control the tracking of the vehicle, hence the term ‘track rod’. The tracking is done by adjust the length of the rod, by winding the T4 track rod end in and out. There are numerous versions of the T4 tie rod, depending if the vehicle has power steering fitted, or if its LHD or RHD.
