VW Eurovan Rear Brake Discs, Pads, Calipers, Hoses & Fittings

Most T4 models after 1996 had rear brake discs fitted, rather than relying on brake drums like previous Transporter incarnations.

Whilst offering better efficiency, there are a few more components open to the elements, which means things like T4 rear brake calipers get corroded, causing issues with uneven braking and the parking brake too.

There are a number of different sizes of rear brake discs for T4, 280 x 12mm and 294 x 13.5mm.  Check your vehicles PR code sticker, or get the tape measure out to confirm you are ordering the correct replacement parts. We stock OE specification rear brake discs from MEYLE but also an uprated offering which is cross-drilled for additional cooling from Zimmermann.

Rear Brake Pads for VW T4

T4 Rear Brake Pads come is a couple of different shapes and sizes, including with wear indicator to operate a warning light on the dashboard when they get too low. Brake pads are sold in sets, with enough for both sides, and they should always be replaced as a full set. Likewise, T4 brake discs should also be replaced in pairs.

Rear Brake Calipers for T4

We can supply T4 rear brake caliper rebuild kits, should you be inclined to replace damaged and worn caliper seals yourself. Alternatively, swap the entire unit for a brand new rear T4 caliper and save a bit of time. There are two types of rear brake caliper for the T4 models, 1996-1997 and 1997-2003. Check your chassis number if your vehicle falls on a change over year to ensure you get the right one.

Volkswagen T4 Rear Brake Hoses

Connecting the rear calipers to the rest of the hydraulic brake circuit is a pair of flexible brake hoses for T4. Being made from rubber, these will perish over time, with the rubber drying out and cracking, and the metal ferule rusting too. Both of these issues could cause your vehicle to fail at its annual inspection, so keep on top of them, and change as soon as you notice any issues.

VW T4 Rear ABS Sensors 

If your vehicle is fitted with ABS from the factory then you may well find yourself needing to replace the T4 ABS sensors. If that’s the case, you’ve come the right place! They are different for left and right, so double check which you need before ordering.
