Meet Dave
Dave joined the team back in 2008, brought in to support the expanded website projects which were planned. His enthusiasm for vintage Volkswagens was obvious as his first car we discovered, was a '72 1200 called Pyp, covered in neon pink accessories from Big Boys Toys and sporting some rather incorrect XR3i seats (as was the norm in the late '90s). When he started with us he was restoring a G60 Corrado but it wouldn't be long until he got back to the aircooleds.
As well as Web Content, Dave takes care of digital design, print design, in house I.T. Support and general digital handyman tasks.
Dave's 1965 Beetle.
Dave bought his '65 Beetle back in 2010 from a customer. Having only 1 previous owner, the car was solid at first glance so the decision was taken there and then to purchase it and take the plunge for a rebuild. 6 months and the Beetle was back on the road, MOTd and sporting a 1776cc motor. A slight disagreement between the tap in the garage and the wing, and the car was taken off the road for some light panel repair, as with these small jobs, it kind of spiralled out of control.
8 months later it's wheeled out of the paint shop after a full repaint in the original L360 sea blue and then the rebuild would begin. The Beetle TMI Headliner was taken care of on the driveway before the rest of the TMI interior went back in along with the oatmeal VW Beetle carpet set. A pair of good secondhand Genuine VW pop outs were fitted to the rear apertures and the rest of the glass followed.
Suspension is down over the Polished and detailed SSP GT5 Spokes thanks for a 4" narrowed front axle, 2" dropped spindles and KYB shocks all round. After a 2013 Volksworld feature and an appearance in the Esher hall at the 2017 Volksworld show, the miles are just piled onto it where ever possible.
