If your Rabbit Mk1 exhaust has just fallen off, or is blowing like a trumpet, you’ve come to the right place! We stock a whole range of Mk1 Rabbit exhaust parts, from rubber hangers and exhaust gaskets, through to stainless steel manifolds and free flowing silencers.
Essential for the effective running of your engine, a hole in your Rabbit Mk1 silencer can lead to a loss of back pressure, and not only attract unwanted attention as you drive down the road but leave little in the way of engine power or torque, especially on the smaller engine models.
You may get lucky and find that it is just a leak from a faulty exhaust gasket, or from a loose exhaust clamp that is causing the problems. We stock all the necessary Mk1 Rabbit exhaust fittings you might require to remedy such an issue, and it shouldn’t be too tricky to do your self in many cases.
From the factory your Mk1 Rabbit exhaust manifold would have been made from cast iron, and it is connected to a mild steel downpipe, which then connects to a mid-silencer and lastly a back box, or rear silencer.
If you are building a performance orientated car, then you may choose to replace the standard manifold with a stainless-steel version. Combining the job of the manifold and the downpipe, these Mk1 Rabbit manifolds are ‘tuned’ with each pipe being the same length for optimum performance. Further benefits of using stainless steel are that it won’t corrode, unlike the original system.
A Mk1 Rabbit performance exhaust is the perfect thing to match with our 4 into 1 manifold as mentioned above. Within reason, the wider the diameter of the pipework, the quicker the exhaust gasses will leave the engine, and the more power your engine will produce. A Mk1 Rabbit sports exhaust will be larger in diameter than original, and this makes it ideal should you have carried out an engine conversion with a view to producing more power.
