VW Type 2 Bay Front Brake Drums, Shoes, Wheel Cylinders, Hoses & Fittings

Early Bay models made between 1968-1970 were equipped with drum brakes on the front, rather than disc brakes like the later models. If your Type 2 front drum brakes need a service or some more serious attention, we can supply the parts you need to get them working at their best again. We can supply a T2 front brake shoes, adjusting screws, and the brake drums themselves too. 

T2 Front Brake Drum Backing Plates

If your Bay Window project has spent years unloved, then the brake drum backing plates are likely to have seen better days. These pressed metal panels are bolted to the front hubs and are home to the Type 2 front wheel cylinders and serve as a base for the brake shoe fitting kit to secure onto.

Front Brake Hoses for VW Type 2 Bay

Carrying the brake fluid to the front wheel cylinders are the rubber brake flexi hoses, one per side. Unusually, the hydraulic fluid then passes into 2-wheel cylinders on each side, which are joined by a metal brake pipe. These T2 wheel cylinders are handed, so double check which you require before ordering, or play it safe and fit new ones all round.
