The Proflow 'Direct Performance' Water Pump operates like a traditional water pump, eliminating the need for ECU control of the impeller based on engine demands.

In the OEM water pump, the bottom sensor communicates the impeller position (open, partially open, or closed) to the ECU. However, the Proflow version includes a plug that signals the ECU to keep the propeller fully open at all times, ensuring continuous operation like a conventional water pump and enhancing reliability.

With the propeller always fully open, the top sensor, which normally regulates the coolant flow to the back of the impeller shroud, becomes unnecessary. This modification removes the need for the standard pump’s top sensor wire, simplifying the design.
