VW Golf Mk2 Wheels and wheel accessories
At Heritage Parts Centre we offer a great range of wheels for Golf Mk2 models, including Jetta and Rallye versions too. From Mk2 Golf steel wheels through to Golf Mk2 alloy wheels, we have a wheel design to suit every style and taste.
If you are building a custom Mk2 Golf then Heritage Parts Centre should be your first choice. We can offer direct fit alloy wheels for Golf Mk2 but also Porsche alloys for Mk2 Golf, which you can fit using Golf Mk2 PCD adapters. These cleverly engineered spacers will change your stud pattern from 4x100 to 5x130 PCD.
Picking the correct Mk2 Golf wheel spacers
To get your wheels sitting ‘just right’ use a set of our Golf Mk2 spacers to bring them further out into the wheel arch. Available in many thicknesses you can safely fine tune your stance using wheel spacers for Golf Mk2, but you must use longer wheel bolts to make up for the thickness of the spacer. For reference the standard Golf Mk2 wheel bolts are M12 x1.5 and are 23.5mm long.
If you fit a wheel spacer that is 10mm thick to your car, you will need to have a Mk2 Golf wheel bolt that is 33.5mm long to ensure the same amount of thread still secures your Mk2 Golf wheel to the hub. Golf Mk2 hubcentric spacers replicate the raised centre section of the wheel hub, to help locate your wheel correctly, even with VW Golf or Jetta Mk2 wheel spacers fitted.
PCD Wheel Adapters for Mk2 Golf
If you want to fit wheels from a different manufacturer to your second generation Golf you might find that your Golf Mk2 wheel bolts and the holes don’t line up correctly. This would be because the PCD (Pitch Circle Diameter) and stud pattern is different on many other wheels. To get around this you can use Golf Mk2 wheel adapters, which allow you to bolt into your standard hub with the correct stud pattern, but then give you the correct wheel PCD for your new wheels to attach too. They will also act as a Golf Mk2 wheel spacer, so take this into account when considering the offset of the non-VW fitment wheels you want to purchase.
Get the right Golf Mk2 wheel nuts and bolts
If you have fitted non-standard Mk2 Golf alloy wheels be sure to choose the correct type of wheel bolt to attach them. Failure to do so could lead to them becoming loose of their own accord, and worst still your wheel falling off while you are driving.
The two main versions are ‘Tapered’ and ‘Radius’ which is in reference to the part of the Mk2 Golf wheel bolt between the thread, and the head where you would attach your wheel brace or torque wrench.
After fitting new wheels, it’s always sensible to purchase Golf Mk2 locking wheel bolts to ensure they don’t get stolen or removed without your permission. Sadly vehicle car parts, including wheels do get stolen, so fitting Mk2 Golf locking wheel bolts is a simple DIY security measure that you can take – you don’t even need to jack the car up to fit them.
