VW Rabbit Mk1 Fuel Tanks
Having spent 4 decades hanging underneath your car, it’s fair to say your Mk1 Rabbit fuel tank is likely to have seen better days. Even if the outside isn’t rusty and riddled with holes, there is probably corrosion on the inside which could makes its way through your fuel pipes, either blocking the fuel flow, or causing real damage to your engine if not stopped by your Rabbit Mk1 fuel filter.
The Rabbit Mk1 fuel tank has a separate filler neck, and these are a common point of corrosion, often catching all the road salt in the inner wheel arch, and never getting the full benefit from a regular wash.
For owners of GTI models we can supply a number of the K-Jetronic fuel hoses for Mk1 Rabbit, helping both at the accumulator and fuel pump end, but also in the engine bay on the often-troublesome metering head.
VW Rabbit Mk1 Carburettors - We sell Spares and Replacements
Whether it is a new rubber base gasket or Rabbit Mk1 Carburettor rebuild kit, or even a replacement Weber carb for Mk1 Rabbit to be done with the ‘problematic Pierburg carburettor once and for all, we can help!
As enthusiasts ourselves we can very much relate to the frustrations of a split in the Mk1 Rabbit carburettor flange, letting air in and causing the car to stall at every junction you come to! You’ll also find things like fuel cut off valves and choke pull down units to help service your original Rabbit Mk1 carb too.
E10 Compatible Fuel Hose for Mk1 Rabbit
Don’t get caught out with the wrong fuel hose on your classic VW, especially if you are unable to use E5 grade fuel. E10 fuel has a higher percentage of Ethanol in it, and this can eat into the rubber fuel hose causing splits or leaks if left too long.
Our fuel hose is specifically rated to be used with E10 fuel to prevent this from happening.
Mk1 Rabbit Fuel Pumps
Carburettor fed engines are supplied by a Rabbit Mk1 mechanical fuel pump that runs from a pushrod on the camshaft, injection models, such as the GTI have an electric fuel pump which will supply fuel at a higher pressure. In some cases this will be controlled by a fuel regulator, that monitors and adjusts the flow accordingly.
