Land Rover’s air suspension system is one of the key features that gives these vehicles their legendary ride comfort on and off the road, but like any advanced system, it requires proper care and maintenance. Over time, components such as air springs and shocks will wear or leak, leading to performance issues if not addressed.
The good news is that replacement Land Rover air suspension parts and upgraded components are readily available, returning everything back to how it should be.
Let us run you through what we offer from brands such as BWI, Bilstein and Dunlop, and address a few FAQs along the way.

What is Air Suspension?
Land Rover air suspension replaces traditional steel springs with air-filled bags, allowing the vehicle to adjust its ride height and firmness automatically. Controlled by electronic sensors and an onboard compressor, it can adapt to different driving conditions, raising the car for off-road clearance or lowering it for improved stability and comfort on the road.
Air Suspension is most commonly found on the more luxurious models, including the Land Rover Discovery 3 and Range Rover Sport.

What are Air Shock Absorbers?
Air shock absorbers are integral to the air suspension system found in many Land Rover and Range Rover models. They combine a shock absorber with an air spring in one unit.
It is recommended to replace air shock absorbers in pairs, either both front or both rear, to maintain suspension balance and performance as new and old shocks will have different damping characteristics, which can affect handling and ride comfort. Equally, to preserve the quality of the ride, and wear on other components, you want both sides to age at the same rate.
Lastly, as air suspension systems rely on balanced pressure and height readings from both sides, non-matching components could cause calibration issues or fault codes.

Can I fit any Air Suspension parts to my Land Rover or Range Rover?
We stock several different brands that manufacture and supply Air Suspension products for Range Rover and Land Rover models.
- BWI are a Tier 1 OEM Supplier to Land Rover, manufacturing original air suspension components, including struts and air springs.
- Bilstein offers B3 and B4 series air suspension components for Land Rover and Range Rover vehicles.
- Dunlop has a long history of supplying OEM-grade air suspension for Land Rover vehicles, including the P38 Range Rover, L322 Range Rover, and Discovery models.
However, compatibility depends on your vehicle’s model, year, and whether it has features like Adaptive Dynamics.
Please check our fitting information section carefully for detailed compatibility guidance, and if you're unsure, contact our support team with your VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) and we'll confirm the correct parts for your vehicle before you order. Will I need ECU calibration after installation of new Air Shocks?
Yes. After replacing air shock absorbers on your Land Rover or Range Rover, the vehicle’s Electronic Control Unit (ECU) may require recalibration to ensure the suspension system functions correctly. This typically involves:
- Ride height calibration – to restore correct vehicle stance and sensor alignment
- Fault code clearing – to remove any stored suspension errors
- System reset using diagnostic tools – to reinitialise the air suspension control module
We recommend using a Land Rover-compatible diagnostic tool or having the work carried out by a qualified technician to ensure proper setup and safe operation.
