And just like that we're telling you all about July's event.... Where has the year gone?!!
Was it good... Yes. Were we treated to some 'new' cars? Absolutely... Can we wait until we do it all again next month? Barely...
Read on, and set your calendar alarm for 21st August.
Who and when?!
As you know, we don't operate a ticket system for our Heretics events. It is simply whoever feels in the mood, that day... and whether the weather is on side!
Despite a couple of stunners arriving almost an hour early, we were kept waiting for the yard to fill this month, perhaps a reflection on the lack of blue in the sky?
But when it did fill, it was absolutely what we needed.

Never the same
The diversity of vehicles that roll through our gates is never taken for granted, and very rarely will see the same two cars parked next to each other month after month.
From ex-military Land Rovers, through to the latest Porsche, the most obscure Volkswagen or one of the VAG spin-offs, such as the 'orange' SEAT Ibiza that was loaded with modifications or the eighties Audi 100 parked unassumingly in the carpark.

Doing it yourself
Something we're always keen to encourage owners to do is to have a go themselves. It might simply be swapping some wiper blades, changing the winder handles or doing on oil change, but getting to know your car and becoming confident with your vehicle leads to more complicated tasks.
I spoke to two such owners who love to get stuck in themselves: Spike with his custom DIY box-arched Mk2 Golf track car and Neil with the Ibiza 'Open Air' show car complete with Golf Mk7 interior, full Kenwood audio install and air suspension. Elsewhere in the yard, a selection of Porsche Speedsters are on show, demonstrating how you can build a car, from nothing for yourself, using the humble VW Beetle as a base vehicle.
And there's plenty of space if you arrive in a classic Mini, a Lancia Delta or even a BTCC tribute Volvo estate!! Whilst the yard remains reserved for the brands we sell parts for, we always check out the 'weird and wonderful' machines other enthusiasts are enjoying... If only we had the space for more ourselves!

A few old friends
Amidst all the madness, I spotted a couple of people and vehicles I knew from years back.
The first was Malcolm, and his silver 5-door Mk1 Golf, which we photographed in the New Forest almost 10 years ago. Check out those photos here.
The other was a white VW Beetle belonging to Natasha, which we used for our VW Beetle Buying Guide article. Stock as a rock, it's a real beauty, and great to see it again.

It's what you make it...
There are no set rules for our events. Come down and sit in your car, walk around on your own, sip a coffee in the corner or grab a burger and get social. Pretty much everyone is up for a chat, and there is plenty to be learnt about cars of all shapes and sizes if you ask the right questions. We're certainly brushing up on Land Rovers at a rate of knots, and Phil's new favourite is the Discovery 2!

We look forward to seeing you again soon, and if you've never been to one of our events please do come along. As I said to one couple who are new to VW T5 ownership, the car hobby is so much more fun if you have a few friends who do it too. We are your friends...
Thanks to Kate and Jack at Little Vintage Tin, Brian Mole (and son) for DJ'ing, Nic and Ben's for the Burgers, and Phil, Dean, Jack and Max from the Heritage team for staying late to run the event alongside me.
