Mahle Bolt-on 87mm Forged Barrel & Piston Kit.
This kit is designed to bolt onto a standard 1300-1600cc Type-1 engine case with the standard 69mm crankshaft. Installing this kit will increase displacement to 1641cc without the need to machine either the crankcase or cylinder heads; it is a direct bolt-on upgrade.
Forged pistons are the strongest available for aircooled VWs; the grain structure of the metal is a lot tighter meaning they can withstand higher loads than the cast equivalent and will therefore be more suited to high performance engines and make for a longer lasting engine.
This Mahle kit includes the piston rings, guedgeon pins and clips as well as the barrels & pistons; a complete set for 1 engine.
