Question by: Khaled AlEmadi on 21 Sep 2020, 05:38
Yes, this should suit your Mexican Beetle also.

does the stabiliser have to be fitted to the power cable running to the fuel gauge, or on the other side from the cable running from the gauge to the sender unit in the tank. thankyou. Presumably there is no in and out direction to the regulator itself. thankyou
Question by: Melanie Jane Thompson on 25 May 2024, 17:36
Afternoon Melanie,

It needs a good earth, screwed down to the body of the gauge. Then a wire from the sender plugs directly into the back of the gauge. There should be a positive feed that pushes on to the end of the stabiliser and the stabiliser then piggybacks on to the other connector on the fuel gauge.

What is the output of this? I:be been told some are 5.2v and others 12v. What should a 1971 Beetle have?
Question by: David Morrison on 15 Apr 2025, 15:28
Morning David,

these are the newer 5.2volt style thermal type voltage stabilizers. Either type can be used on vehicles, VW didn't differentiate between early and late style voltage stabilizers on their models. The old bimetallic strip type was superseded by the later thermal type unit.
