There is no hard and fast way of fitting this shelf i would trial fit it in the location you want by propping in place without fix it. The 'p' shape metal brackets go as far forward towards the driver and passenger as possible for stability on the sides of the shelf. The other brackets screw into the shelf at back edge of the shelf near the bulkhead. I have emailed some images of shelves fitted in Ghias and beetles hopefully this will give you a better idea of where to mount yours.
