Ten of the best aircooled VW Alloy Wheels

If you're reading this, then congratulations! Not only do you own an aircooled Volkswagen, but more excitingly it looks like you might be wheel shopping too...

The good news is you have come to the right place! Heritage Parts Centre offers many different Aircooled VW alloy wheels, and here are 10 of the best to whet your appetite. Photos appear below for illustration, and might not always be the exact product or colour that we offer.

Need to know more about which wheels will fit your car? Check out our technical blog here

1. Fooks

Originally produced for the 1967 Porsche 911 'S' model, VW owners have been taking influence and fitting wheels from Stuttgart sportscars for many years. Whilst a genuine set of Fuchs wheels will set you back thousands these days, the good news is we stock some fantastic quality replica wheels by SSP. Available in polished, chrome, and 'detailed' black and polished finish, you can even pick your choice of widths and stud patterns.

Find them online here.

2. GT 5 Spoke

First appearing in the late '60s as a split rim wheel, this classic '5 spoke' has been copied many times and we are pleased to offer one of the finest tributes, the SSP GT5. Available in chrome, polished, or with a choice of white, black or silver painted spokes, it's a versatile rim that suits both car and camper very well.

3. GT 8 Spoke

Here's another spoked wheel from the drag strips of California but reproduced by plenty of wheel manufacturers around the world. Our SSP GT8 spoke is a fitting homage to this popular design. Available in chrome, polished or silver, white or black centre spokes as seen below, these are suitable for all 4/130 air-cooled VWs and even the Porsche 914

4. Raider

With such a slim spoke, the Raider's design gives the illusion of a larger diameter wheel than actually fitted. Only produced in wide-five fitment, SSP offers these with silver, black, and chrome centres. Suitable for Split Bus, Early Bay and pre-67 Beetle, Ghia and Type 3

Find them online here.

5. 914

So-called as they were fitted on the Porsche / VW collaboration sportscar, the 914. These 4 lug wheels have a favourable offset making them ideal of Karmann Ghia, not to mention 68 onwards Beetle, Type 3, and more. Manufactured by SSP these are only available in a black and polished finish.

Check them out online here.

6. Sprint 5

Styled on the original Lemmertz wheel from the '60s, our SSP Sprint 5 is the same classic design reproduced in a modern alloy. We can offer these in gloss black with polished spokes, or a matt black and silver finish for a more subtle look.

Find them on our website here.

7. Crest

Add a bit of 70s muscle car flavour to your wide-five Beetle or Bus with the SSP Crest alloy wheel. Finished with silver spokes to complement the polished lip, these are a tougher alternative to the classic EMPI 5 design.

8. Slot Mag

Looking for a seventies custom look? The SSP Slot Mag is here to help! With a machined cut face, this classic wheel is available in 4/130, 5/112 and 5/205 fitment.

9. Sprint 8

An understated alloy wheel that draws its inspiration from the Lemmertz steel wheels of the late 1960s. Perfect on both stock and custom VWs, they will absolutely make your car look great!

10. BRM

Made popular on the Drag Strip, the SSP BRM wheel can be fitted to a range of vehicles thanks to the work SSP have done engineering the offsests and fitment. Available in both 5/205 and 5/112 PCD you can rock this look on early Beetle and Split, but also late Bay and Type 25 too.

Of course, this isn't an exhaustive list, but we've tried to highlight some of our most popular options with the hope that it offers some inspiration in your search for the perfect wheel.
