Heretics on the Road: Type 2 Detectives May 2026

We're very lucky to have friends in this industry all over the UK and beyond, and one such business is Type 2 Detectives in Burwell, Cambridgeshire. 

When we decided to 'take our show on the road' in 2026, they were an obvious place to start. We'd visited them a few years back to do something similar, and with their T2D Coffee shop now in full flow, it made perfect sense to book in with Paul, James and the team to do it all again. 

For those familiar with Heretics, you'll know we like to have a bit of music to create an atmosphere at our events, and we hit the jackpot with this one, as Tony and Simon from VDub Radio got in touch and offered their services. They turned up with their striking red and white 'DubBox' trailer and even brought along friend and fellow show host, Anton Murrells, who is always great on the mic, even if his mixing is best kept to the bedroom. 

We had been promoting the event across our emails and social media, as had our partners in this venture too. But the simple fact is, you never really know who is going to turn up, especially when the meet up is happening in someone else's backyard. 

The great news is that plenty of cars and people did come down, and we were pretty close to capacity in the main car park area, whilst still allowing room for vehicles to move in and out. Let us share with you some highlights, including plenty of VWs and Porsches, plus a handful of lovely Land Rovers. 

If we had to pick a few highlights... The Ducati-powered VW Derby was next level, and the lifted 110 Land Rover was equally cool. We were treated to some beautiful Karmann Ghias; an original low-light and the ex-Bernard Newbury custom car, now in the custodianship of Stu Betty, the man behind the B289 movement, and if you liked old Fords, the red 'stepside' pick-up featured a huge turbo motor and a wicked stance!

One of the joys of doing events is getting to meet you, our customers, face to face, and often with your own vehicles right there in front of us. It's lovely to hear how we've helped bring your projects to life, supplied parts for decades and are in many cases, your parts supplier of choice. 

A few of the team made the trip to T2D - so you may well have spoken with Andy, Dean, Gedi, Eliot, Alex or Barney our CEO during the course of the evening. Hopefully, you got a chance to check out a few of our new products on display and picked up one (or more) of our lovely posters, drawn in-house by Dave, our designer. 

It would be remiss of us not to show a few snaps from inside the T2D Coffee Club. Paul and the team have done a cracking job creating this as a local destination, combining great food and drink with classy mid-century and industrial style. If you are in the area, do call by - you're in for a treat. 

Getting to see 'new' cars to us is a real pleasure, and there was plenty to see. Some vehicles that we'd only ever seen at shows or in magazines, others we didn't know existed. Thanks to everyone for coming along and bringing your vehicles for us all to enjoy.

June's event will be back at Heritage HQ in Shoreham, and we look forward to welcoming you on Thursday 18th June.

We'll also be celebrating the end of the season at Heritage HQ on Thursday, 3rd September. 

You can find us on the road again in July at The Motorist in Leeds (Sunday 19th July from 10 am) and at Great Northern Classics in Derby on the evening of Thursday 20th August.
