How To Decorate Your Car For Christmas!

It's only a few weeks until our annual Santa Cruise, so we have picked out some of our favourite decorated vehicles from past years, to help inspire and get you in the mood! Read on, and get ready to feel festive!

Giving something back

Why bother to decorate your car this Christmas? It's about raising a smile in your community, and spreading some cheer. You don't have to go mad like these guys... But don't let us stop you!

Tinsel time

Available everywhere this time of year, tinsel can offer a quick and easy Christmas transformation on a budget. In the same way that a few drapes can turn a pine tree into a Christmas tree, you can tie it onto wing mirrors, wrap it around bumpers, or just lay it on the dashboard. A great last-minute addition, on your way to our Santa Cruise... And yes, you can take part in any old car, it doesn't have to be a Volkswagen, Porsche or Land Rover

It's a wrap!

Don't worry, we won't judge your gift-wrapping skills closely, it's all about the effect from a distance. Christmas wrapping paper can be a quick and fun way to add festive cheer to your car. Wing mirrors are an ideal candidate for a subtle seasonal hint. But, you can also get a bit carried away and wrap the whole thing like I did... My 944 took 10 hours!

Just be prepared that it will start falling off if it gets wet, and if not properly secured, it will flap in the wind too!

Sparkly lights

Another staple for the season of goodwill is fairy lights, and these can look particularly effective as night draws in.  Just make sure they are LED and use their own battery pack... you don't want them wired to the vehicle itself, in case they drain the battery, or cause a fuse to blow.

Wreaths and grille ornaments

Just as you may hang some holly and mistletoe on your front door at home, why not dress up the front panel or radiator grille of your car instead with a suitably seasonal wreath or even a festive mascot?

Oh Christmas tree....

The christmas tree has become a bit of an automotive fashion accessory in recent times, and we've seen plenty over the years running our Santa Cruise... Here are a few ideas for you.

Reach for the star

If your vehicle still has an aerial fitted, then why not pop something festive on top.... An Angel, a star, what do you usually have the top of your tree? This Mk1 Golf has combined the tree topping star with a cheeky elf for a double whammy! Great fun, and nice and simple to do.

Bolt it on the back!

A rear-mounted bike carrier can be a brilliant accessory for your Christmas decorations to sit upon... Especially if it's a 6-foot-tall inflatable Santa Claus! Check these out for some additional inspiration.

Don't forget inside...

You don't have to stop with the exterior of your car or campervan. Howabout you dress the inside like a grotto, or a add a faux fire place and hang some stockings up for good measure.

The cherry on top!

If you have a roof rack on top of your car or camper, then it is ripe for some festive adornment. Whether that's a stack of presents, or a sculpted shark, Dalmation or R2D2, it's about having fun and turning some heads.
