This EMPI Foose rear wing is a precision-engineered collaboration with renowned automotive designer Chip Foose, improving on the classic “Herrod Helper” for a more modern VW Type 1 application. Designed to deliver both style and true aerodynamic performance, it increases rear end downforce and improves stability at speed. The integrated Gurney flap and TIG-welded end plates enhance airflow over the wing, making it significantly more efficient than earlier designs.

Hand constructed from laser-cut and precision-formed 14-gauge T-6061 aluminium, the wing is both strong and lightweight. TIG-welded stand-offs position the wing to allow unobstructed engine cooling airflow while maintaining full practicality—low enough to preserve rear visibility and high enough to allow the decklid to open without interference. Powder-coated steel brackets clamp securely to the cooling vents for a no-drill, fully reversible installation, with stainless hardware included for a clean and durable finish. A removable FOOSE logo decal completes the look, with overall dimensions of 37.7" wide by 8" deep.
